Need Blogging Help?

So even though we might be so completely different in a million different ways, the one thing we have in common is blogging. Sure, we may be viewed as "freaks" and "weirdos" and "mad typists" by non-bloggers, but we all know that blogging is where the cool people hang out and share their thoughts. I mean, look at our most successful famous spokesperson -- celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. Aren't you proud to be a blogger now?

Perez Hilton...A Blogging Ambassador

OK...maybe that was a bad example. But bloggers are awesome and thoughtful and cool and smart and witty! I know I am -- and aren't you?

Blogging is such a personal venture -- you are putting a little bit of yourself out there every day. It is natural to want your blog to represent who you are. But getting Blogger or Wordpress to represent you can be a pain in the patootie. (OK...maybe not if you are on Wordpress, which seems better than Blogger. Oh -- how I rue the day I found Blogger first instead of Wordpress. But enough of my whining.) If you made the same choice I did and found yourself on Blogger, chances are you've been fighting with it ever since to make your blog more yours. Well, today I have two great blogs to help you out.

The first is Sneaky Momma Blog Design created by Jill -- my wonderful, generous, and talented blogging buddy (AKA Sneaky Momma). Jill has a blogging tip blog that is so helpful and packed with tutorials sorted by Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. This is where I learned how to convert my template to three columns, create a button grab box and lots of other fun stuff. And if you head on over there today, you'll find a post on blog etiquette by yours truly! (Although my loyal readers may have already read it as it was a past Writer's Workshop). So if you are a "do it yourselfer" who likes to mess around with your blog like I do, head on over and let Sneaky Momma help you out!

But if you are little afraid of messing around in the scary world of HTML but wish you could get a nice little blog makeover for yourself without spending too much money, Jill also has a wonderful little blog makeover business -- Blogs By Sneaky Momma -- that offer very affordable packages based on your wants and needs. If you check out her own blogs, you'll see what a lovely job she does. She has packages that start as low as $25 and go all the way up to $100 -- with lots of packages in between. Here is what you get for the rock bottom price of $25:
  • 1 wallpaper
  • choice of preselected fonts
  • recoloring of text and links
  • 1 solid colored background (this one is white)
  • a custom header
  • border to separate backgrounds
  • 2 column minima or existing template.
You can also add on to this package by choosing individual items from her Odds and Ends menu. Odds and Ends include things such as:
  • Custom signature- $5
  • Clickable slideshow (up to 20 awards or buttons)- $10
  • 3 column layout-$10 (simple conversion)
  • 2 column wide layout- $10 (simple conversion)
  • Navigation bar (text only)- $15
  • Text sidebar titles (up to ten)- $15
  • Framed sidebar photos- $4 each
  • Sidebar titles (images)- $4 each
  • Post separator- $5
  • Button w/grab box- $15
  • Header-$25
  • Navigation bar w/images- $30
So if you want to makeover your blog but don't want to spend a small fortune, why not talk to Jill about how she can help you out? Her prices are so affordable, and she is a lovely, patient fellow blogger.

You are brilliant Miss Jen! So hilarious and so true at the same time. I know I am doing some things that Goldie doesn't like and I will seek to rectify because I want her to come back and visit!
Enjoy the day! Erin

I just hopped over to read your guest post and I'm so glad I did! What a cute take on a blogging etiquette post. Each time Goldilocks found something she didn't like, I held my breath hoping it wasn't something I'm guilty of!! I've bookmarked the page to check out some tutorials later, although since I'm on Typepad I'm not sure if the Blogger tips will work.

I don't know who that blue haired guy is but I am wondering why the front of his shirt is wet, is he drooling or something ? ew.

She has some cute stuff. I just haven't brought myself to pay for a blog design yet. Just can't do it... maybe one day I'll break down and pay for some cuteness. In the meantime, I'll have to suffer through alone. :)

Thanks for this...

I also lament the fact that I found blogger before anything else. Bleh...

I want to try all this, but I'm broke. So much for that idea...

PS: P.Hilton looks like a booger.

Great post. I needed Goldilock's advice because this is all pretty new to me. I'm sure having fun with it, though.

I am so glad that I found Sneaky Mom blog site which you recommended a few months ago when I first started bloging. Her site kept me from throwing the computer out the window and made being a bloggie newbie less frustrating.

This an awesome post! Thanks for the info. I'm trying to learn how to be more techy--it's hard.

Also, did you hear about the mommy blogger who had photos yanked from her site and used in an advertising campaign half way around the world? Amazing. I have a link in my current post on my blog.

You do advertising?

I wish I was selling something. Instead of just giving it away. If you know what I mean.
