Example of My Laziness

I'll admit it -- I can be a little lazy. (Hold your tongue, Mr. Jenners!) Sometimes I will actually invest more time avoiding doing a simple little job than doing the job. Case in point: the 5 minutes I spent arranging and rearranging this little pots and pans sculpture so it wouldn't fall down. I suspect it would have taken less time to just dry the pots and pans than to construct this sculpture so they could "air dry."

My Latest Sculpture

And if you missed it yesterday, here is the link to the Fun and Games with Jenners submissions. And I'm working hard on my unofficial unscientific report on carbonated beverages. (That is a lie actually. I haven't done anything about it yet.) I suspect I shall have something for you by Friday. Woo hoo! I'm sure you are marking it in pen on your calendar.

That's okay. When I got my first place my sister would come over every few weeks and do my dishes for me. I would have 2 sinks full and it was only me. I hate dishes, and they wouldn't get done if it wasn't for my dishwasher.

Oh my gosh!! Did you sneak into my kitchen and take a picture of my sculpture?! Seriously.. I do that ALL the time. I'll even spread a towel out on the counter so I have more stacking space if my drainer gets full. I hate towel drying dishes!

I have pots and pans drying everywhere in my kitchen. Way back when, I threw out my dish rack. Did I get a replacement? No. But I still fight drying dishes.

If you made 4 or 5 more of those and put them against a stark backdrop, I bet you could call it an "exhibit" and charge admission :)

I think we all do that every now and then...well maybe all the time!! lol And I do the towel things also. My husband sometimes wonders why we even have cabinets because the dishes LIVE on the counter! :)

Oh my, I do the exact same thing! Air drying dishes is an ART FORM!!!

(PS: I am extremely behind on reading blog posts, and am therefore combining comments. The one you wrote about whether or not to apologize to Mr. Jenners had me ROLLING. We are entirely too much alike, haha.)

I can NOT towel dry dishes in this house because that would result in doggy hair stuck to every single dish. So I air dry it and yes, I have sculptures like that too. I also do the towel thing that a couple people mentioned above. I also have a system for doing dishes so tht I don't have to worry about breakables at the top. My old roommate back in collage used to laugh at my system but she's the one who would break dishes(usually mine!)because of improper stacking!

I have a dishwasher but it doesn't work very well right now which is a PITA (that's Pain In The Neck if you didn't know) and so I'm handwashing everything. boo. we were hoping to get our kitchen renovated this summer = complete with a new dishwasher, but alas, that's not happening now. *sigh*

anyway congratulations on your beautiful sculpture. :)

People don't realize how much skill is involved in stacking dishes that high. Well done! :)

I do the same thing, but with the garbage can because I hate taking out the garbage. My husband makes fun of my trash sculptures.

:) It's funny how much time we can spend in the effort of not spending time on something. :)

You're too funny! I love your sculpture - guilty of doing the same thing myself. :)

LOL! That is my husbands trick!

Very impressive! And I love your red strainer!

I totally do the same thing! Rather than take the time to dry the dishes I'd rather just take the time to stack them. Then I leave them for hubby to put away!

I have constructed that type of art work before!

Nice bright kitchen.

I am so with you on this and the hubs would say the same thing. That's when I tell him I don't see him washing any dishes, lol!

Man do I hate drying dishes! I am right there with you!

Jen said...

what that is not how you are suppose to do the dishes?

Brenda Susan said...

Ha! Love the sculpture! I know exactly what you mean!

ROFL!!! I nearly choked on my water when I saw this. I do the SAME thing. Only my colander is white :)

I'm cracking up just picturing you balancing that tower every so carefully. That is SO something that I would do.

Dan said...

Given my neatnik tendencies, I might build a similar tower, but then I'd be compelled to take it down and put it all away. oh well, good art is by nature fleeting.

Oh the things we do to avoid doing other jobs...

Very nice. Everybody knows it's more sanitary to air dry... unless someone is having a sneezing fit in your kitchen. (Which sort of begs the question, do farts have germs?)

angie said...

Who wants to do dishes, ever?

Mama Kat said...

You're not a maid. You're an artist. And THAT my dear...is beautiful.

I build similar sculptures!

Know what is fun? When is collapses and all the pans crash onto the floor and you have to rewash them.

That is AWESOME.

WhisperingWriter said...

LOL

I do the same thing!

Crap, looking at this picture reminded me that I have to do some dishes. *Pouts*

You're clearly not alone here - and I'm another follower of the stack 'em dangerously high and let them drain - I refuse to reach for a tea-towel! I have just never thought to take a photograph of my sculpture and blog about it - thanks for a giggle tonight!

This is sooo me. My husband hates it. When I see him looking at 'the pile' I tell him, 'Stop! I just washed all those dishes. Let them dry'. Mind you, all the plates on the bottom had been there for about 2-3 days. LMAO! Thank goodness Im not alone. My husband swears I'm an incompetent freak.

melanie said...

At least the dishes are clean... you are lightyears ahead of me...

Stacy (the Random Cool Chick) said...

Oh I love it! It's so nice to know I'm not alone - my dish rack tends to consistently sport one of those sculptures, too!! LOL! :)

nikkicrumpet said...

Yes....but then you wouldn't have "ART"

That made me laugh out loud! Are you related to my sister? Separated at birth perhaps???
