The Best Cupcake in NYC ... Plus Other Randomness

Well, we're back from New York City and our hastily conceived search for the best cupcake in New York City (and possibly the world) has come to an end. Admittedly, we only tested three cupcakes but I can't imagine there is a better cupcake than the ones we found at Crumbs. First of all, make a fist. Now pretend you were bitten by a spider and your fist swelled about two inches. That is the size of these cupcakes. Now imagine the moistest cupcake you can think of and then inject "surprise" icing into the middle of it. Then think about all the fun things you might want to roll your cupcake in -- M&Ms, mini chocolate chips, Snowcaps, Oreos. And you have a small idea about how amazing these cupcakes are! Perhaps a photo will help you imagine:

Clockwise from Top Left: The Snowcap, the Artie Lange,
the Baba Booey and The Grasshopper

Yours Truly Having a Moment.
Someone needs to take care of those eyebrows! Yikes!

Oh, and did I mention, they are now delivering. And you can look for other Crumbs Bake Shops on their website, which I have helpfully linked to twice for your convenience.

Confidential To Crumbs Bake Shop: I am totally willing to promote your product with virtually no strings attached. I just want the opportunity to taste all of your cupcakes at least one to three times each.

Our trip was great but there is such a thing as too much family togetherness -- especially when you are driving home, exhausted from walking walking walking all weekend and the Little One asks every five seconds "Are we home yet? When will we be home?" in an annoying whiny voice. It is at this point that you just want to leave the family and start a new life elsewhere. (All right, I will admit that I personally did not experience this whining as I was passed out in the front seat of the car but Mr. Jenners tells me it was really really annoying. So sorry I fell asleep, dear.)

Is it wrong that I spent a good amount of time the other day Googling "Edward Cullen" and ogling photos of Robert Pattison in his "Edward" persona? And have you seen the GQ with Mr. Pattison in the cover? Holy Cannoli! I'm starting to come around on this casting decision.

Confidential to Denise: I can't wait for you to give me Breaking Dawn. I'm done Eclipse and I must continue on. Unless you show up at my door in the next five minutes with the book in hand, I am downloading it to the Kindle to read today!

OOOH! Gimme, gimme, gimme!

And welcome to the world of Twilight addicts and Edward-lusters.

I was just talking with my (married, 6 kids) sister about Twilight today. And she said that she thinks about it such an inappropriate amount, that she is convinced that there must be some kind of subliminal message in the books/movie.

I am drooling!

Is it wrong that I just licked my monitor to try to get a taste?

You REALLY made my mouth water! I felt like I suddenly had so much saliva in my mouth I had to swallow quicker. I've got to find a location near me!

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU HAVE JUST FINISHED ECLIPSE and HAVEN'T READ BREAKING DAWN YET!!! NEW MEAT! MAKE SURE AND POST ABOUT IT WHEN YOU'RE FINISHED!!!

I'd have to walk back home to northern California if I got anywhere near those cupcakes. What do you think? 700 calories a pop?

Michelle said...

Deb said...

i'll stick to the cupcakes, thank you very much. lots and lots (and lots) of cupcakes.

Cathy said...

Ok, now I want a freaking cupcake! I'm never going to lose 20 pounds, if I keep reading about all this delicious food! And, Mr. Pattison is quite dreamy, isn't he?

Amariah said...

Do you really have to show pictures of, and write about cupcakes? I mean, come on! I'm on a very strict diet but now all I can think about is a big, sweet, cupcake!
I'll blame the next pound on you Jenners!
:-)

lisaschaos said...

OH MM GEE! Those look so fabulous! And I think I gained weight just looking at them! I would be surprised to find there were 1000 calories in one cupcake! I better work out a lot if I wanna taste one. :)

Renee said...

There is nothing like Crumbs. They are the very best cupcakes (mini cakes!) on the planet. The icing alone is to die for. HMMMM. I have to go find one now. :)

kimert said...

yuuuummmmm! cupcakes are my favorite! :)

Momma@Live. Laugh. Pull your hair out said...

Please tell me those cupcakes are healthy and calorie-free.

Ok...who cares. They look awesome!

kel said...

Give me those cupcakes and no one gets hurt.

Keely said...

Um, wow. Do those cupcakes have their own gravitational force? I mean, they each get their own NAME.

I think they're big enough to just be considered CAKES. But I'm okay with that. I wonder if they deliver to Canada?

Sera said...

What a yummy post. In every sense of the word. Yum, yum, YUM. Thank you. :)

Stacy (the Random Cool Chick) said...

It's almost midnight and you've made me hungry for those cupcakes...wonder if I'll be dreaming of cupcakes tonight... :)

Happy RTT! :)

Those cupcakes look divine - well worth the whiny road trip...

Mel said...

Mmmmm....cupcakes.

The answer to the infernal question "When are we going to get there?" is "Just looking for a parking space, honey."

And, you're no more wrong than I am when I google my imaginary boyfriends. And, if that's wrong, then I don't want to be right!

LadyFi said...

Wow - those cupcakes are making me drool!

I love cupcakes and I love Edward. A perfect day would be to share a cupcake with Edward and so that I don't feel guilty that I'm with another man than my husband.

I'll have RM sit at another table.

Kim said...

I would pretty much give my left arm for one of those cupcakes right now. And I'm still not sold on that casting decision.

I love this line:
"I am totally willing to promote your product with virtually no strings attached." I think they should seriously consider it.
